COP31 Climate Change Coverage Scholarship in Türkiye from EJN

The issue of climate change is no longer just a distant global crisis, but rather a daily reality faced by our communities. From tidal flooding along the Pantura coast, to weather anomalies impacting local farmers, to the threat of drought, who understands these direct impacts best if not journalists and local media outlets?

If you are a journalist, independent journalist, or creator journalist passionate about speaking out about climate issues, there's good news. The Earth Journalism Network (EJN) is officially opening applications for the COP31 Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) Reporting Fellowship for Creator Journalists.

Through this prestigious program, you have the opportunity to fly to Antalya, Turkey, and cover the 31st UN Climate Change Conference (COP31), which will take place from November 9-20, 2026.

What is the CCMP Fellowship for Creator Journalists?
The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the world's largest and most important climate forum where world leaders negotiate to determine the fate of the planet. Unfortunately, the voices and perspectives of developing countries are often underrepresented in global mainstream media coverage.

Through this program, EJN aims to bridge this gap by bringing journalists and news content creators from middle- and low-income countries (including Indonesia) directly to the heart of the negotiations. Uniquely, this fellowship specifically targets Creator Journalists—recognizing the extraordinary power of digital journalism, social media creators, and multimedia storytellers in reaching a new generation of audiences.

Fully Funded Benefits
For selected participants, this program offers full financial and operational support so they can focus on producing incisive and impactful coverage. Covered benefits include:

Round-trip airfare (economy class) to Turkey.

Accommodation during the conference.

Consumption/daily meal allowance.

Travel insurance.

Logistical support and operational guidance from EJN's expert team while at the conference.

What is Expected of Participants?
During COP31, Fellows are expected to actively produce news content, stories, or educational information related to the conference and its impact on local communities in Indonesia. The format of the coverage is very flexible—it can be an in-depth text article, an audio podcast, a video report, a mini-documentary, or a combination of interactive social media campaigns.
